About Politraders
What we do
Members of Congress are required to disclose their stock trades under the STOCK Act. Politraders collects those disclosures, parses them, and presents the data in a way that is easy to search, filter, and understand. We cover both the House and Senate going back to 2020, with tens of thousands of individual transactions indexed.
Methodology
Our data pipeline ingests periodic transaction reports filed with the House Clerk and Senate eFD system. House filings are parsed from PDF documents using optical extraction.
All trades are indexed by disclosure date - the date the filing becomes public. New disclosures are typically reflected within 24 hours of being published on the House Clerk or Senate eFD systems.
Limitations
Disclosure reports arrive weeks or months after the actual trade. Our data reflects filing dates, not real-time activity.
Transaction amounts are reported in ranges (e.g. $1,001-$15,000), not exact figures. Portfolio simulations use range midpoints.
Some filings - particularly scanned PDFs - may contain parsing errors despite our multi-pass validation pipeline.
Senate historical data before 2021 is not yet included. House coverage begins in 2020.
