Privacy Policy, Methodology, and Terms

This page explains what Politraders does, how data is processed, the limits of that data, how we handle your information, and the terms that apply when you use the website and Chrome extension.

Methodology

Politraders is a read-only research interface built on public disclosure sources. The pipeline ingests filings, normalizes issuer names and tickers where possible, tags data quality markers, and publishes structured outputs for the extension and website.

Public posting timing and transaction timing are different signals. Where available, we preserve both so users can see when a trade happened and when a filing became publicly visible.

The platform does not execute trades, hold custody, route orders, or provide brokerage functions.

Research Scope (Not Advice)

Politraders is for research and monitoring only. Nothing on Politraders is investment, legal, tax, or accounting advice, and no fiduciary relationship is created by using the product.

You are responsible for your own decisions. If a decision is material, verify against primary filings and qualified professional advice.

Data Limits and Source Reality

Public filings can be delayed, amended, redacted, corrected, duplicated, or inconsistently formatted. Amount fields are often ranges instead of precise values. Some instruments may not map cleanly to a ticker symbol.

Because source systems can change records after initial publication, derived aggregates may update over time. Source records remain authoritative if there is any conflict with normalized display output.

The service is provided "as is" and "as available" without guarantees of uninterrupted availability, completeness, or timeliness.

Verification and Provenance

Use filing links shown in the product to confirm details directly at the source when links are available. For high-impact use cases, treat Politraders as a discovery layer and validate records independently before action.

If you find a suspected mapping error or missing attribution, contact support with the filing URL and ticker symbol so the issue can be reviewed.

Privacy Policy

This privacy policy describes what information the Politraders Chrome extension and website collect, how that information is used, who it is shared with, and your rights regarding that information. We keep data collection minimal. We do not sell personal information and we do not run third-party advertising trackers.

What We Collect

Chrome Extension — Stored Locally on Your Device

The Politraders Chrome extension stores the following data locally on your device using Chrome's storage API. This data never leaves your browser unless stated otherwise:

  • Page URLs from supported trading sites (TradingView, Robinhood, Webull, Schwab), used solely for automatic ticker detection when the extension sidebar is opened. These URLs are stored locally and are never transmitted to any server.
  • Extension settings and preferences such as display mode (Congress or Lobbying) and last-searched ticker symbol.
  • Extension settings and cache state, used to preserve sidebar preferences and reduce repeat network requests.
  • Cached API responses to reduce network requests and improve performance.

Chrome Extension — Sent to Our Backend

The extension makes read-only API requests to our Supabase-hosted backend to retrieve publicly sourced Congressional trade filings. These requests include:

  • Ticker symbols you search for or that are auto-detected from the current page.
  • Query filters such as chamber (House or Senate), data mode (Congress or Lobbying), and pagination parameters.

Requests are authenticated with a public anonymous API key. No personal identifiers, account credentials, or browsing history are sent. Standard server infrastructure logs (IP address, timestamp, request path, user agent) may be retained by our hosting provider for reliability and security purposes.

What We Do Not Collect

  • We do not collect your name, phone number, or physical address.
  • We do not collect your browsing history outside of supported trading sites.
  • We do not collect your account information on trading platforms.
  • We do not use cookies for tracking or advertising.
  • We do not run third-party analytics services (no Google Analytics, no advertising pixels).
  • We do not collect health information, personal communications, or location data.

How We Use Your Data

We use collected information only for the following purposes:

  • Ticker detection: Page URLs stored locally are used to auto-detect which stock you are viewing so the sidebar can display relevant trade data without manual input.
  • Trade data retrieval: Ticker symbols sent to our backend are used to query public Congressional disclosure filings and return matching results.
  • Service reliability: Server infrastructure logs may be used to diagnose errors, prevent abuse, and maintain uptime.

We do not use any collected data for advertising, profiling, analytics, or any purpose unrelated to the extension's core function of displaying Congressional trade disclosures.

Data Sharing and Third Parties

We share user data only with the following third parties, and only as described:

  • Supabase (database and API hosting): receives ticker search queries and standard HTTP request metadata. Supabase acts as our data processor.

We do not sell, rent, or transfer user data to data brokers, advertising networks, or any other third parties. We do not transfer data for purposes unrelated to the extension's single purpose. We may disclose information if required by law or to protect against fraud or security threats.

Data Retention

  • Local extension data (URLs, settings, cache): retained on your device until you clear Chrome storage, uninstall the extension, or reset extension data. You can clear this at any time through your browser settings.
  • Server infrastructure logs (IP, timestamp, request path): retained by our hosting provider per their standard retention policies, typically no longer than 30 days.

Security

All data transmitted between the extension and our backend is encrypted in transit using HTTPS (TLS). API requests are authenticated using a scoped anonymous key with row-level security policies that restrict access to read-only operations on public filing data.

Locally stored data uses Chrome's built-in storage API, which is sandboxed per-extension by the browser. We do not store sensitive personal data on our servers.

Your Rights

You have the right to:

  • Access your data: All extension data stored locally is accessible through Chrome's developer tools (Application > Storage).
  • Delete your data: Uninstalling the extension removes all locally stored data. You can also clear extension storage through Chrome settings at any time.
  • Request information: Contact us at kakramko@gmail.com to ask what data, if any, we hold associated with your account.

Limited Use Disclosure

Politraders' use and transfer to any other app of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

Terms of Use

By using Politraders, you agree not to misuse the service, interfere with normal operation, attempt unauthorized access, or misrepresent product output as personalized professional advice.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Politraders and its operators are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or market-trading losses arising from use of the service.
